Well that’s how the beach at Illas Cies was described by the Guardian newspaper. Down the coast a bit and the wind picks up, from the north, northeast so all downwind. Did I say the wind picks up, well it did again and soon we had up to 31- 32 knots of wind, that’s force 7 in old money, a reasonable amount. [Read more →]

Vigo before ve go.
October 9th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Vigo is a great city, lots of character, narrow streets, church with out of tune chimes, which the locals don’t seem to notice! When we asked them which church it was they didn’t know what we were talking about. The Club Nautico building is a grand affair, the super structure of a cruise liner, the interior to match.

Update: Southern Galicia

Photos of the time with Mum in the gallery now. Southern Galicia has light winds and hot sunshine while offshore there are showers and strong northerlies. Very pleasant and we are planning a few days in the Ria de Vigo doing the last of the odd jobs and shopping in a language we can understand at least some words. Portuguese don’t understand Spanish and we don’t understand Portugese. I guess its hand signals for a while!

Domino city

Next table along a group of gentlemen have arrived and are playing dominos all say hello to me and tell me it’s ok to stay where I am. Just hope they play fair and don’t argue. Now for the latest.
David meets his mum at the airport, back to Santiago then on to Camarinas and on board. As you can see from the photos Mumsie is tempted to ring the incense container in the cathedral,
