As predicted last year, all our Christmas wishes are by email, so here we are.So this is Christmas. We are in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, 16th November 2008. The sun is shining and I’m in shorts so I don’t really feel I should be writing this now. We have had a great six months, which if you have time you can read the blog, to find out exactly what we have been doing. In one of the next few days (manana!) we will be off towards Cape Verde for possibly a week, then across the Atlantic to Martinique, Caribbean. I’m not sure what sort of internet access we will have in Cape Verde or how long it will actually take us to cross, we do hope that we will be there well before Christmas, but as with any sailing you never know.
So we would like to wish all our friends a very Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year, and to thank everyone who has helped us on our way.
To make things easier for those who normally exchange gifts with us, we feel that while we would love to give and receive presents, it seems silly to be spending a lot on carriage, also the probability of them getting lost is also quite high. So we are not going to send Christmas presents home for the next few years. I hope everyone understands and is happy with that. Keen to avoid family visiting for Xmas having to carry lots of presents from others.
What we would like from everyone who reads this is a quick update of what they are doing now. That would be a great present for us both, we don’t want to lose touch with any of our friends, relations, or readers who perhaps we briefly met or even that we don’t know. So send us an email.
Happy Christmas to all and fair winds to the sailors.
With love Mary and David

Thanks for your kind words. We will be thinking of you as you venture out into the wide blue yonder.
