Can any body hear the music?

It’s wonderful the arrivals area at the airport. Rebecca was on the flight and we had seen her come down the plane steps, now the wait till she was through customs etc. The beginning of her holiday. St Lucia south to Carriacou and back to St Lucia.

There and back again

March 28th, 2009 · 1 Comment

A few days on our own, a quiet hogmanay in Marin, and we take off walking around the bottom end of Martinique, great walk around the coast, passing some of the best beaches from the sheltered west coast to the great Atlantic side with all the swell rolling in.

Daddy do we have any bananas?

January 28th, 2009 · No Comments

Well we had a Christmas visitor, he arrived just after we had tidied and cleaned Giselle from our Atlantic crossing and our signing in to Martinique. He was tall, no white beard in fact clean shaven and he brought lots of news and a big bag with presents for Christmas day. A more than welcome [...]

Rolly polly pudding

I’m not going to say much about the crossing as David hopefully gave you a feeling for it each day as we crossed. There wasn’t much to see, water, sky, sometimes cloud, stars, and always flying fish, even at night, flying fish. We even had a squid on deck one night. Our watch system worked, [...]

Well we did have heavy seas and the wind was quite strong, but with the correct sails up (trysail and little bit of genoa which rolled away to next to nothing, and in the lower wind rolled out a bit more) Giselle was very well behaved and we just kept on going. We left Funchal, [...]

Atlantic Islands rising from 4000 metres below sea level to 1860 metres above.

Mary: Porto Santo in daylight looks very different, no twinkley lights all along the shore. One harbour one end and one town half way along the beach. Looks quite barren not much green. Time to explore the town, and buy some fresh food, not that I ever buy old food, so why do we say [...]

Portugese trade winds, following currents and passing port to the left

October 12th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Mary: An early start, and the forecast wind is nowhere to been seen, there is no wind. Motoring on out of Vigo area, though the fleet of fishing boats, clear of the world’s best beach. Well that’s how the beach at Illas Cies was described by the Guardian newspaper. Down the coast a bit and [...]
