Expanding jobs

April 16th, 2010 · 2 Comments

We are still on the hard in Norsand, Whangarei. Actually now in a shed. Everytime we poked a little further we found an area that needed attention and off came another fitting. We have had to cut out some corrosion and replace small sections of plate mostly in the anchor well area but mostly the corrosion is just starting and cleaning out and painting is enough. We shot blasted the patches of corrosion last Friday and Saturday with garnet. Makes a horrible mess and we will probably find little pockets of garnet for a quite a while yet as the force of blasting helps it get into impossible places!

Painting has started and we have help from the yard with this part of the process.

Surprising the number of boats around us in the yard with expanding job lists and a few weeks out turning into a few months.

Do you know your plan for the next season? We are hoping you will head East! Miss you like crazy. Glad to be out of Marina Taina. Enjoying diving with sharks & a very friendly turtle in Moorea. Our sister ship “Tatajuba” just anchored near us, the French couple with 2 teenagers has it up for sale. Please write us when you get a chance. Hello to Graham & Karen if you still see them! xo Cindy

The plan is no plan at the moment. Everytime we think we have the end in sight something else turns up! We will certainly be in Whangarei next cyclone season. Planning to go back to UK for Dec and most of Jan.

We still like to think we will get up to the islands – Tonga or Fiji or Vanuatu – but need to get further down the paint work before an end is in sight.

As the painting proceeds we will get time when we are forced off the boat to let the paint dry. Then we can start communicating again!
