Still at Anchor: Asau, Savaii, Samoa

September 29th, 2009 · 8 Comments

Hot news which we have got from the SSB radio and VHF is that there has been an earthquake and Tsunami in Samoa.

As often happens, we felt nothing in this anchorage.  Some damage on the south coast has been reported.

Hopefully the boats in Apia Marina and Pago, Pago in American Samoa were OK.

Glad you are OK. James and his girlfirend are in transit from Fiji to Tonga and left Monday. Hopefully they will be OK.

Good news. I have two long time sailing mates on yachts in Asua. Would be greatful if you could possibly confirm if other yacht Red Herring from Nelson NZ is OK. They were due to leave early morning of 29th. I have been in contact with other NZ yacht Manaroa who left Asau the day before & they are OK.
    Thank & all the best
