Post from Giselle have a techical hitch at present Here is what you would have got last Friday:

David…. Sailing in Sunshine off the west coast of Ireland with the huge pink spinnaker up. Rebecca insisted I put it up. Would I have put it up without this insistence? Just had a good look at Great Skellig. Steep rocky island about 10 miles west of the coast of county Kerry. For 600 years the island was an important centre for monastic life for Irish Christian monks. An Irish Celtic monastery, which is situated almost at the summit of the 230 meter high rock was built in 566 and became a UNESCO world heritage site in 1996. It is one of Europe’s better known but least accessible monasteries.
The Viking sacked the island in the ninth century, inspiring a Skellig monk to write –

Bitter and wild in the wind tonight
Tossing the tresses of the sea to white
On such a night as this I feel the ease
Fierce Northmen only course the quiet seas

Off to Castletown bearhaven tonight and then Bantry ready for Rebecca, Camy and Peden’s return to London on Sunday.

    David- Mary and all on-board.
Good to hear you are off to a good start. Ireland sounds very inviting, I so wish I was there with you guys. I will miss sailing with you so much now you will be away. and not just the sailing, but also the Malt whisky Labels …naration, or the …terrorising of small quaint ancorages, or even my dissapearing under the waves clutching to the bow for dear life, only to be greeted on the way up with a… so you’re Ok?, from a calm and composed David, adding stoically, hmmm…! can you put another reef on the main then!!!

David, you have been an inspiration to me and I owe everything I have achieved and learned about saling to you. Both you and Mary have been the most fantastic friends and i wish you from the depths of my heart the Best, Most enjoyable, fulfilling, rewarding and most of all, safe voyage. I will miss you both until i see you again.
    Take good care.
    Michael
