Diet, What diet!

pork_herbed_mustard.jpgGot the books now and we have started the diet.

The GI approach is very different to previous diets. The meals are tasty and filling. Last night was

  • Soupe au vin blanc (needed 1/2 bottle of wine and 1 pint of double cream for 4 servings) followed by
  • Pork with Herb Sauce (wine again in the sauce with crème fraiche this time – see photo).

You are encouraged to have a glass of wine with the meal – alcohol OK as long as not on an empty stomach. Learning new cooking skills but this does mean you have to follow the recipe accurately! The recipes may taste good but they leave a lot of washing up!The logic of keeping to foods that the body doesn’t burn makes sense as does conditioning the pancreas so that it is more tolerant of glucose. We are on the diet which aims to eat foods with GI lower than 35. Much to my pleasure peanuts are there at 15 as is dark chocolate (70% cocoa) at 25!

Here’s hoping it will work doesn’t feel like a normal diet!

My recollection of Montignac is no glasses of wine on Phase 1 — but you obviously have a different edition!

I am sure you will do well; we will follow progress with interest.
